MOUNT MERU

Mount Meru: Is located just 45km North of Arusha town and is within Arusha national park, west of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the 5th dependent highest mountain in Africa and second one in Tanzania. The park consists of the three spectacular features; the Momella lakes, Ngurdoto crater and Mount Meru. On clear days magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen from almost any part of the park. The Savanna vegetation and wildlife varies with the topography, which ranges from forest to swamp. The mountain had a minor eastward eruption in the year 1910, with the several cones and craters seen in the vicinity which reflects numerous episodes of volcanic development. Mount Meru is 4565m high, 14,969 feet above sea level

To Summit, you can use the Momella route starting from the eastern side at Momella gate and there are two routes called, the shorter one for 3days/2night and the longer one for 4days/3nights trek.
